Mary Gene “Gigi” McWhirter – Battle of the Bulge
Gigi McWhirter’s husband was a paratrooper who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. She recounts him blowing up a bridge and losing an eye as well as being covered in shrapnel. He was the captain of his platoon and claims the worst part was having to push people out of the plane when they wouldn’t jump.
